Maya Haywood

Maya is currently a Chemical Engineering PhD student at University of Maryland Baltimore County. She earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering at Penn State University with a Biochemical focus. At UMBC, she is a GRISE and PROMISE Fellow. Her work focuses on using cell-free systems aided by machine learning to enhance enzyme specificity and reaction kinetics. Outside of the lab, she likes to go to cat cafes, hike, watch movies, and volunteer at local dog shelters.
